SEO or PPC: Where Should You Invest?

SEO and PPC: Which One Is the Better Investment?

Businesses, particularly small ones, need to decide how to best allocate money. This leads into a discussion of whether it is better to invest in search engine optimization or pay per click campaigns. SEO is the practice of filling content with keywords so that a site’s webpages show up higher on search engine results pages. PPC campaigns require you to bid on keywords so that your ads appear on relevant searches. This begs the question: which one is worth the investment?

Search Engine Optimization

This method results in organic clicks, which are highly valuable. However, it is more of a long-term strategy. You need to constantly update your company’s webpages with relevant keywords so that consumers are more likely to find your website. It is not a strategy that will work instantly. It can sometimes require months or years of work, but it pays off handsomely if you are willing to put in the effort.

Pay Per Click

PPC campaigns are better for when you need to drive traffic to your site immediately. You get to completely customize the terms of your campaign. You can decide which keywords you want your ads to appear on. You also get to decide how much money to spend. For example, you can set a limit at $100, so when the limit is reached, the campaign automatically ends.

Which Is Better?

Honestly, a business owner needs to implement a combination of strategies to excel. Investing in SEO is good to grow your organic base over a period of several years while PPC can be used in the short-term to drive customers to your site now.
